Sammamish WA: June 21, 2003:
Unified Plateau Partners for Habitat, a four church coalition on the Sammamish Plateau have joined together to raise funding for a 24-unit low-income housing project in Redmond's Patterson Park. The churches are sponsoring a Bike Ride and a Walk-A-Thon on June 21, 2003 as the major fund raising event in support of the Patterson Park Community in cooperation with Habitat for Humanity of East King County.
The Bike Ride will use the historic Iron Horse trail and will offer three levels of difficulty all terminating at Rattlesnake Lake east of North Bend. There will be a 40+ mile effort which will start in CleElum and a 20 + mile effort starting at Hyak near the Snoqualmie Summit both ending at Rattlesnake Lake. The Walk-A-Thon will circle beautiful Rattlesnake lake, a 2 mile trek that will terminate at the picnic facility.

A coalition of Mary Queen of Peace, Sammamish Hills Lutheran, Sammamish Presbyterian, and Faith United Methodist working in cooperation with Habitat for Humanity of East King County to fund the Patterson Park Community and to provide volunteer help in the construction of the 24 unit condominium homes.

Founded in 1988, the Eastside chapter is one of 30+ Habitat affiliates in Washington State.
Habitat's goal is to lay a foundation for a stronger community by working with people who are dedicated to building a better life for themselves. To achieve this goal, we depend on donated land, labor, money, and materials from citizens, faith communities and local businesses. We accept government funding only in the form of land donations or funding for land acquisition and development. We do not take government money for the building of houses.

About Patterson Park:
This Habitat project consists of 4 multiplex buildings with a total of 24 condominium units. The community is located on Avondale Road in Redmond, Wa. The Iron Horse Trail Bike and Walk-a-thon is UPP's major fundraiser for the Patterson Pak Community. All donations are tax deductible.
